In short: ThreadTrim works entirely inside your browser. It never reads or sends your emails. The only thing it ever sends is your email address, and only if you click “Join the waitlist”. No account, no analytics, nothing sold or shared.

What ThreadTrim does

ThreadTrim is a Chrome extension for Gmail, and optionally Outlook on the web. When you reply to an email, it removes older quoted emails from your reply draft, so the message you send is shorter.

What it accesses

  • Your reply draft. To trim it, ThreadTrim reads and edits the content of the reply box on mail.google.com, and on Outlook on the web (outlook.office.com, outlook.office365.com, outlook.live.com) only if you turn that on in the ThreadTrim popup. This happens on your device only, in the moment you open a reply. The content is never stored, logged, or sent anywhere.
  • Your account’s email address and name, as Gmail or Outlook shows them on the page, so you can join the waitlist with one click. They stay on your device unless you click “Join the waitlist”.
  • Nothing else. It does not read your inbox, contacts, calendar, or any other website.

What it stores

  • Your settings (on/off, how much to trim, whether to show the “Trimmed” bar), saved with Chrome’s built-in extension storage. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs these settings between your own devices.
  • Your monthly usage (how many replies you have trimmed this month, for the free plan’s monthly limit) and the date you started using ThreadTrim, saved with Chrome’s extension storage and synced by Chrome between your own devices if you use Chrome sync.
  • Two counters (number of replies trimmed and total size removed), saved on your device only.
  • Your account’s email address and name, saved on your device only, and whether you have joined the waitlist.

No email content, recipients, or subjects are stored.

What it sends

Only one thing, and only when you ask: if you click “Join the waitlist”, ThreadTrim sends your email address and name to EUX Digital (eux.com.au) to add you to the ThreadTrim waitlist. We use them only to tell you about ThreadTrim’s paid plan, and you can unsubscribe from any email we send. Otherwise ThreadTrim makes no network requests. It uses no analytics or tracking and includes no third-party code.

Sharing and selling

ThreadTrim does not sell, transfer, or share user data with anyone, and does not use it for advertising, credit decisions, or any purpose unrelated to trimming your replies and, if you join it, the ThreadTrim waitlist.

Removing your data

Uninstalling the extension deletes all of its data: your settings, monthly usage and counters. Chrome removes it from your device and from Chrome sync. If you joined the waitlist, email us and we will remove your address.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version ever needs to handle data differently, it will ask for your permission first.
