The RBA has confirmed changes that are expected to end card surcharging on eftpos, Mastercard and Visa transactions from 1 October 2026.
If you can no longer rely on passing card fees directly to customers, your payment provider and rates become much more important.
Current surcharge laws still apply until the new rules take effect. Businesses should seek their own advice and confirm obligations with their payment provider or regulator guidance.
